Type Locality and Naming

It was named by the Joint Research Team of the 305 Project and published by Wang Wuyan in 1990. No type section was designated. The name of this formation is retained herein although the validity of this formation need further investigation.

Synonym: (塔勒布拉克组)


Lithology and Thickness

The formation, 1069 m in thickness, is dominated by pelitic sandstone, siltstone and slate.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It conformably overlies on the Mishigou Fm

Upper contact

The top of the formation is unclear. Regionally, the next younger unit is the Bayanbulak Fm of upper Silurian

Regional extent

It is exposed in the area south of the Toksun County in the eastern sector of the middle Tianshan Mts.
